Here's the key thing to know: trimethaphan (Arfonad) is a powerful blood pressure lowering drug, given by IV drip in a hospital to drop blood pressure quickly. American Hellebore also lowers blood pressure and slows the heart on its own. Put the two together and those effects stack up, which can push your blood pressure dangerously low and your heart rate too slow.

In real terms, that could mean severe dizziness, fainting, a sluggish or pounding heartbeat, nausea, and a heart that can't keep up. This is a major, likely interaction backed by solid evidence. Honestly, American Hellebore is poisonous and not a safe self-care product to begin with. Please don't combine these, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.
