Theoretically, avocado sugar extract might increase blood glucose levels, and decrease the effects of antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the thing to keep in mind if you take Linagliptin (Tradjenta) for type 2 diabetes. Avocado sugar extract contains a compound called D-mannoheptulose that, in lab and animal studies, may actually nudge blood sugar upward by interfering with how cells use glucose. If that holds true in people, it could work against your Linagliptin, meaning your blood sugar might not come down as well as you'd expect.

I'll be honest with you, this concern is theoretical and based only on test-tube and animal research, not human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you decide to try this supplement, keep an eye on your blood sugar readings and loop in your pharmacist or doctor before starting. Don't change your Linagliptin dose on your own.
