Here's the gist: avocado sugar extract contains a compound called D-mannoheptulose that, in lab and animal studies, seems to nudge blood sugar up by interfering with how cells handle glucose. Metformin works to bring your blood sugar down, so the worry is that this supplement could push in the opposite direction and partly blunt how well your metformin keeps your numbers in check.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This is purely theoretical, based on test-tube and animal research, with no real human studies behind it. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you're taking metformin and thinking about this extract, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your blood sugar readings rather than changing anything on your own.
