Theoretically, avocado sugar extract might increase blood glucose levels, and decrease the effects of antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Janumet combines two diabetes medicines: metformin and sitagliptin. Both work to lower your blood sugar. The concern here is that avocado sugar extract might nudge your blood sugar in the opposite direction, slightly raising it and possibly making your Janumet work a little less effectively. In real life, that could look like more thirst, more bathroom trips, or tiredness if your numbers creep up.

I want to be honest with you though: this is theoretical, based only on lab and animal studies, not on people. The effect, if any, is probably small. Eating actual avocado is not the issue here. If you do try the concentrated extract, just keep an eye on your blood sugar readings and check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
