Here's the gist for Tresiba (insulin degludec), your once-daily long-acting insulin. The concern with avocado sugar extract is that, at least in lab and animal studies, the active sugar (D-mannoheptulose) might nudge blood sugar upward. If that happened in real life, it could work against your insulin, meaning your usual Tresiba dose might not bring your numbers down as well as expected.

I want to be honest about how thin the evidence is here. This is theoretical, based on test-tube and animal work, not on people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you decide to try the supplement, check your blood sugar a bit more closely and let your doctor or pharmacist know. Please never adjust your insulin on your own.

What Is Insulin Degludec (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tresiba

Insulin degludec (brand name Tresiba) is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children 1 year of age and older who have diabetes mellitus — including both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication of diabetes that requires a different type of treatment). In people with type 1 diabetes, insulin degludec must always be used together with a short-acting insulin.
