Maribavir falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might increase plasma concentrations of CYP3A4 substrates.
Ayahuasca contains beta-carboline alkaloids. In vitro research suggests that beta-carboline alkaloids competitively inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version for Maribavir (Livtencity), the antiviral you take for cytomegalovirus (CMV). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this medicine. In lab dish studies, the beta-carboline compounds in ayahuasca (harmine, harmaline) appear to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in a person, maribavir could build up a bit higher than usual, which might mean more of its typical side effects like an altered or metallic taste, nausea, tiredness, or diarrhea.

I want to be honest: this is only theoretical and has not been shown in actual humans, so I don't want to alarm you. That said, ayahuasca carries its own serious risks and isn't something to use on your own. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything with maribavir.
