Pramipexole falls under DOPAMINE AGONISTS — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might have additive effects when used with dopamine agonists.
Ayahuasca contains the beta-carboline constituent harmine. Animal research shows that harmine increases extracellular dopamine levels.

Here's the short version for pramipexole (Mirapex): this drug works by mimicking dopamine in your brain. Ayahuasca contains harmine, and in animal studies harmine has been shown to push up dopamine levels. So the worry is that the two could stack on top of each other, giving you too much dopamine-like activity at once.

If that happened, you might notice stronger versions of pramipexole's usual side effects, like nausea, dizziness, lightheadedness when standing, sleepiness or sudden sleep attacks, hallucinations, or impulsive urges. I want to be honest though, this is a theoretical concern based on pharmacology and animal data, not solid human studies. Ayahuasca also carries its own serious risks, so please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything with your pramipexole.

What Is Pramipexole Used For?

Pramipexole tablets (immediate-release) are approved to treat Parkinson's disease and moderate-to-severe primary restless legs syndrome (RLS). Pramipexole dihydrochloride extended-release tablets are approved only for Parkinson's disease.

For Parkinson's disease, pramipexole helps manage the motor symptoms of the condition. For RLS, the immediate-release tablet is taken to relieve the uncomfortable urge-to-move sensations that are the hallmark of the syndrome.
