Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Berotralstat Hydrochloride
Berotralstat Hydrochloride falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Baikal Skullcap interacts with.
In vitro and animal research suggests that baicalein, oroxylin A, and wogonin, constituents of Baikal skullcap, can inhibit P-glycoprotein. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Berotralstat (Orladeyo) is the medicine you take to help prevent hereditary angioedema attacks, and your gut moves it using a transporter called P-glycoprotein. Lab and animal studies hint that compounds in Baikal skullcap (like baicalein and wogonin) may slow that transporter down. If that happened in people, a little more berotralstat could stay in your system, which might nudge up side effects such as belly pain, nausea, diarrhea, or headache.
Here's the honest part: this is only a theory from test-tube and animal work, and it has not been shown in humans. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but I also wouldn't add a concentrated skullcap supplement without checking first. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
