Flibanserin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Baikal Skullcap interacts with.

Theoretically, Baikal skullcap might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 enzymes.
In vitro evidence suggest that wogonin, a constituent of Baikal skullcap, modestly inhibits the activity of CYP2C19 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for flibanserin (Addyi): your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to break this medicine down. Baikal skullcap contains a compound called wogonin that, in lab dish studies, seems to mildly slow that enzyme. If that happened in a real person, flibanserin could clear a little slower and build up, which could nudge up its usual side effects like low blood pressure, dizziness, drowsiness, fainting, or nausea.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is only test-tube evidence and has never been shown in people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Flibanserin already carries warnings about dizziness and fainting, so it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

In vitro and animal research suggests that Baikal skullcap binds to GABA-A receptors and causes sedation. Theoretically, Baikal skullcap might cause additive therapeutic and adverse effects when used concomitantly with drugs with sedative properties. Preliminary clinical research has not identified clinically relevant sedation after use of Baikal skullcap; however, a thorough evaluation of safety outcomes has not been conducted.

Here's the gist with flibanserin (Addyi) and Baikal skullcap. Flibanserin already has a sedating side, it can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and a real drop in blood pressure, especially soon after a dose. Lab and animal studies hint that Baikal skullcap may gently nudge the same calming GABA pathways in the brain. So the theory is that combining the two could pile on top of each other and leave you feeling extra sleepy or lightheaded.

I'd put this in the low concern but worth a heads-up bucket. The evidence is only test-tube and animal level, and human studies haven't shown meaningful sedation from the herb. Still, since flibanserin already warns about drowsiness and fainting, run it by your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, and don't combine either with alcohol.

What Is Flibanserin Used For?

Brand name: Addyi

Addyi is approved to treat acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) — a condition where low sexual desire causes significant distress or relationship difficulty — in women under 65. "Acquired" means the low desire developed after a period of normal desire; "generalized" means it happens regardless of the situation or partner.

Addyi is not intended for use in men, and it is not a sexual performance enhancer. It is also not meant for HSDD that is caused by a medical condition, a psychiatric condition, relationship problems, or another medication.
