Here's the short version on combining Baikal skullcap with Myfembree (relugolix, estradiol, and norethindrone). In test-tube studies, compounds in this herb (like baicalin and baicalein) can slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. The estradiol portion of Myfembree is partly handled by that enzyme, so in theory, blocking it could let estrogen levels drift a little higher and possibly bump up estrogen-related side effects like nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, or bloating.

That said, I want to be honest with you: this is only seen in the lab, never confirmed in real people, so it may not amount to anything. None of these medicines are prodrugs, so the herb wouldn't weaken them. Still, before adding skullcap, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Myfembree contains estradiol, an estrogen, paired with relugolix and norethindrone to help manage heavy bleeding from fibroids or endometriosis pain. The concern here is mostly on paper. In lab dishes, compounds in Baikal skullcap (like baicalein) seem to act a little like estrogen and may compete at estrogen receptors. In theory, taking large, concentrated amounts could nudge the hormone balance your medication is carefully set up to maintain.

To be honest, this is weak evidence, only test-tube studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. We just can't promise how it plays out in real people. Before adding this herb, please run it by your pharmacist or prescriber so your therapy stays on track.

Theoretically, Baikal skullcap might increase levels of drugs transported by P-glycoprotein.
In vitro and animal research suggests that baicalein, oroxylin A, and wogonin, constituents of Baikal skullcap, can inhibit P-glycoprotein. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: Myfembree contains relugolix, which your body moves around with the help of a transporter called P-glycoprotein. Baikal skullcap has plant compounds that, in lab dishes and animals, seem to slow that transporter down. If that happened in people, slightly more relugolix could stay in your system. With the estradiol and norethindrone in this combo too, that might mean a touch more of the usual hormone-related effects, things like headache, nausea, breast tenderness, or mood changes.

The key point: this has only been seen in lab and animal studies, never confirmed in humans, and it's rated minor. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since Myfembree is a daily medication, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this herb.

What Is Relugolix, Estradiol, and Norethindrone Used For?

Brand name: Myfembree

Myfembree is approved for two conditions in premenopausal women: managing heavy menstrual bleeding caused by uterine fibroids (non-cancerous growths in the uterus), and managing moderate to severe pain caused by endometriosis (a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus).

Treatment with Myfembree should not exceed 24 months because of the risk of ongoing bone loss that may not fully reverse after stopping the medication.
