Troxyca ER pairs oxycodone (a strong opioid painkiller) with naltrexone, and it's the oxycodone part that acts on your central nervous system to slow things down. The concern here is simple: bay leaf contains a compound called methyl eugenol, which in animal studies showed mild sedative effects. In theory, large amounts of concentrated bay leaf or its essential oil could add to the drowsiness oxycodone already causes.

What that might look like is extra sleepiness, dizziness, foggy thinking, or slowed breathing. I want to be honest though, this is a theoretical caution based on lab and animal data, not strong human evidence. The pinch of bay leaf in your soup won't do this. If you're considering bay leaf supplements or oils, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Troxyca ER pairs oxycodone, a strong opioid pain reliever, with naltrexone, which is built in to discourage misuse. The concern here is mostly theoretical: in large supplement-sized amounts, bay leaf compounds might add to the sedating, calming effects of the opioid. If that happened, you could feel more drowsiness, dizziness, slowed breathing, constipation, or grogginess than usual.

Keep in mind this is based on pharmacology reasoning, not strong human studies, and the bay leaf you use to flavor soups or stews is very unlikely to cause any problem. The caution applies to concentrated extracts or essential oils. Don't change anything on your own. If you're thinking about a bay leaf supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
