Here's the gist: oxycodone is a strong opioid pain medicine that already slows down your brain and body. It can cause drowsiness, slowed breathing, low blood pressure, and that foggy, sleepy feeling. Bay leaf contains a compound called methyl eugenol, which in animal studies showed mild sedating effects. So in theory, piling a sedating herb on top of an opioid could deepen that sleepiness.

I want to be honest here, this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal data, not strong human proof. The bay leaf you toss into a soup is unlikely to matter. The worry is with concentrated supplements or essential oils taken in large amounts. To be safe, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the simple version for oxycodone (like Xtampza ER or Roxybond). The concern on file is mostly a theoretical one: in large supplement-sized amounts, bay leaf may add to the calming, sedating side of narcotic pain medicines. Oxycodone itself is already a strong active opioid, so the worry is that concentrated bay leaf could nudge its effects a bit higher, meaning more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing.
