Saxagliptin, metformin XR falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Bay Leaf interacts with.

Concomitant use of bay leaf with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Preliminary clinical research shows that bay leaf can lower blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes who are already taking antidiabetes medication. Advise patients to monitor glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments may be necessary.

Here's the simple version: Kombiglyze (saxagliptin plus extended-release metformin) already works to bring your blood sugar down. Some early research hints that bay leaf may nudge blood sugar a little lower too. Stack those two together and, in theory, your numbers could dip more than expected, which is what we call low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). That can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a fast heartbeat, or feeling confused or hungry.

I want to keep this in perspective. This concern is mostly theoretical, and the small amount of bay leaf in cooking is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplements or bay leaf oils are where I'd pay attention. If you take those regularly, check your glucose more often and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
