Why this applies to Terazosin

Terazosin falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Breadfruit interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension. Animal research shows that breadfruit leaf extract can decrease heart rate and weaken the force of heart muscle contractions, which may lower blood pressure.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the gist for terazosin: it already lowers blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Concentrated breadfruit leaf products (teas or extracts, not the fruit on your dinner plate) may also nudge blood pressure down, based on animal studies where the extract slowed heart rate and softened heart contractions. Stacking the two could push your pressure lower than intended.

If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, especially when you stand up quickly. Terazosin is already known for that "first-dose" drop, so I'd be a little cautious. To be clear, this is theoretical and based on lab and animal data, not strong human studies. Eating breadfruit as food is fine. Before trying leaf supplements, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Terazosin Used For?

Brand names: Hytrin, Terazosin

Terazosin capsules and Tezruly oral solution are both used to relieve the urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — the enlarged prostate condition that causes trouble urinating — in adult males. They are also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines.

Lowering blood pressure with terazosin reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks. Tezruly (the oral solution) may be used alone or alongside other antihypertensive agents for hypertension.
