Here's the gist: Propoxyphene is an opioid pain reliever, and like other opioids it can make you feel drowsy, slow your breathing, and cloud your thinking. Calea zacatechichi (dream herb) seems to have a mild calming or sedating effect of its own, at least in animal studies and some human reports. Put the two together and the worry is simply that they could add up, leaving you more groggy, dizzy, or out of it than expected.

I want to be honest with you: this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not something proven in careful studies. Still, since both can slow the brain down, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, especially if you'd be driving or already feel sleepy on your medication.

This three-ingredient combination — butalbital, acetaminophen, and caffeine — is used to relieve the symptoms of tension headache (also called muscle contraction headache). All supported products, including tablets, capsules, and oral solution, share this same approved use.

It is worth knowing that evidence for using this combination to treat repeated, frequent tension headaches over time is limited. Because butalbital can be habit-forming, extended or repeated use is not recommended.
