Here's the gist with Halcion (triazolam) and the dream herb. Triazolam already works by calming down activity in your brain to help you fall asleep. Calea zacatechichi appears to have its own mild calming, sedative effect (seen in some animal and human reports), so stacking the two could add up. The worry is simply too much sedation: extra drowsiness, grogginess, dizziness, poor coordination, or feeling foggy the next morning.

I want to be honest, though. This interaction is theoretical, based on how the herb behaves rather than solid studies, and it's rated minor. Even so, since both nudge you toward sleep, it's worth running past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you ever feel unusually knocked out.

What Is Triazolam Used For?

Triazolam tablets are approved for the short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. Treatment is generally intended for 7 to 10 days. Halcion (a brand of triazolam) is specifically indicated for this same short-term use in adults.

Using triazolam for more than 2 to 3 weeks requires a full re-evaluation by your doctor to rule out an underlying medical or psychiatric condition driving the sleep problem.
