Here's the gist for your birth control pill (the ethinyl estradiol with ethynodiol diacetate combo, like Demulen, Zovia, or Kelnor). Both camphor and the estrogen in your pill are processed by your liver. The concern on file is purely theoretical: in rare cases, camphor has been linked to short-lived bumps in liver enzymes, so stacking two things the liver handles might add a little extra strain. This is not a strong or well-documented interaction, just a cautious note based on how these compounds behave.

In practice, using a camphor rub on your skin for sore muscles or congestion is very unlikely to cause real trouble with your pill. Never swallow camphor, though, since it's genuinely toxic by mouth. If you have liver problems or notice yellowing skin, dark urine, or belly pain, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.
