Preliminary clinical research, case reports, and animal studies suggest that high dose cannabidiol has sedative and hypnotic effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of cannabidiol with drugs with sedative and anesthetic properties may cause additive therapeutic and adverse effects.

Here's the thing to keep in mind: Lemborexant (Dayvigo) is a sleep medicine that quiets activity in your brain to help you nod off and stay asleep. CBD, especially at higher supplement doses, can have its own calming, sleepy effect. Put the two together and those effects may simply stack on top of each other.

In real life that could mean feeling extra drowsy or groggy the next morning, more dizziness, trouble concentrating, or feeling unsteady when you get up. I want to be honest that this concern is mostly theoretical, based on how each one works rather than hard studies in people, so it may not be a big deal for everyone. Still, before pairing them, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can weigh in for your situation.

In vitro and animal research shows that cannabidiol inhibits CYP3A4. In human studies and case reports, cannabidiol has been associated with an increase in plasma levels of the CYP3A4 substrates zonisamide, tacrolimus, everolimus, citalopram, midazolam, and methadone.

Here's the short version: your sleep medicine lemborexant (Dayvigo) is cleared from your body by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. CBD tends to slow that enzyme down, so the lemborexant can hang around longer and build up to higher levels than usual. This is an active drug (not a prodrug), so more of it in your system means a stronger effect.

In real terms, that could mean feeling extra drowsy or groggy, having trouble waking up, next-morning hangover, or feeling unsteady or impaired. This concern is backed by good-quality research showing CBD raises levels of other CYP3A4 drugs. Please don't stop or change either one on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can guide the safest plan for you.
