Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Phenelzine Sulfate
Phenelzine Sulfate falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Cannabidiol (cbd) interacts with.
Preliminary clinical research, case reports, and animal studies suggest that high dose cannabidiol has sedative and hypnotic effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of cannabidiol with drugs with sedative and anesthetic properties may cause additive therapeutic and adverse effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: phenelzine (Nardil) is a strong antidepressant that can already make some people feel tired, drowsy, or lightheaded. CBD, especially at higher supplement doses, may have its own mild calming or sleepy effect. Put them together and those effects could stack up, so you might feel more sedated, foggy, or dizzy than you'd expect from either one alone.
I want to be honest that this concern is theoretical, based on how these substances behave rather than solid studies with this exact pairing. It's not a dangerous chemical clash, more a 'be aware' situation. Phenelzine is a tricky drug with lots of food and medication cautions of its own, so please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding any CBD product.

About Cannabidiol (cbd)
What is Cannabidiol (cbd)?
- Anxiety and stress
- Sleep problems
- Chronic pain
- Certain seizure disorders
- Inflammation
CBD is a compound from the cannabis (hemp) plant that does not cause a 'high.' It has strong evidence only for certain rare seizure disorders (as a prescription drug), while most other popular uses are still backed by limited or early research. Product quality varies a lot, so talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you take other medicines.
About Phenelzine
What Is Phenelzine Used For?
Brand name: Nardil
Phenelzine treats depression in people described as “atypical,” “nonendogenous,” or “neurotic.” These patients often have a mix of anxiety and depression, along with phobic or hypochondriacal features (intense fears or excessive worry about health).
It is rarely the first antidepressant tried. It is more suitable for people who did not respond to the drugs more commonly used. Evidence is less conclusive for severe depression with endogenous features. These uses apply to Phenelzine Sulfate tablets and Nardil tablets.
