Metoprolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Cannabigerol (cbg) interacts with.

Theoretically, taking cannabigerol with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that an intraperitoneal injection of cannabigerol lowers blood pressure. The mechanism of action may be related to alpha-2-adrenoreceptor activity. The effect of oral intake of cannabigerol is unclear and this has not been shown in humans.

Here's the gist if you take metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL) and are curious about CBG. Metoprolol already works to lower your blood pressure and slow your heart rate. In animal studies, CBG also nudged blood pressure downward. So the worry is simple addition: stacking the two could, in theory, drop your blood pressure a little too much.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, unusually tired, or faint when standing up quickly. I want to be honest, though, this is theoretical. The evidence comes from injected CBG in animals, and we don't know if swallowed CBG does the same thing in people. It may well be a non-issue. Still, since metoprolol affects your heart, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding CBG, and don't change your dose on your own.

What Is Metoprolol Used For?

Brand names: Lopressor, Toprol XL

Metoprolol is used to treat several heart and blood pressure conditions. Metoprolol succinate extended-release tablets (including Toprol-XL) are approved for high blood pressure, angina pectoris (chest pain from the heart), and heart failure. Metoprolol tartrate tablets (including Lopressor) are approved for high blood pressure, angina, and — when used alongside intravenous metoprolol — to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death after a definite or suspected heart attack.

Metoprolol tartrate injection (intravenous form) is used in hemodynamically stable patients with a definite or suspected acute heart attack to reduce cardiovascular death, and is followed by oral metoprolol therapy. Lowering blood pressure with metoprolol reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
