Why this applies to Mexiletine
Mexiletine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Chrysin interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin inhibits CYP1A2 isozymes. However, chrysin does not appear to inhibit CYP1A2-dependent caffeine metabolism in animals. Due to chrysin's low bioavailability and rapid metabolism to glucuronide and sulfate conjugates, this interaction is unlikely.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist for mexiletine. Your liver clears this drug largely through an enzyme called CYP1A2. In test-tube studies, chrysin can slow that same enzyme down. On paper, that could let mexiletine build up a little, and since mexiletine isn't a prodrug (it's already active), more drug in your system might mean more side effects like nausea, dizziness, tremor, or in rare cases worsening of the very heart rhythm problems it treats.
The good news: this is mostly a theoretical, lab-based worry. Your body absorbs very little chrysin and breaks it down fast, so a real-world effect is unlikely. Still, mexiletine has a narrow safety window, so it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or cardiologist before adding chrysin.

Chrysin is a plant flavonoid sold mainly as a bodybuilding supplement claimed to raise testosterone or block estrogen, but human studies have not shown these benefits, largely because the body absorbs very little of it. Evidence for its other proposed uses is mostly limited to laboratory and animal research, so its real-world value is unclear. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

What Is Mexiletine Used For?
Brand name: Mexitil
Mexiletine Hydrochloride capsules are indicated for the treatment of documented, life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias — for example, sustained ventricular tachycardia (a dangerously fast heart rhythm originating in the lower chambers). Because mexiletine itself can trigger arrhythmias, it is not recommended for minor or symptom-free irregular heartbeats.
Treatment is started in a hospital setting so heart rhythm can be monitored closely. Antiarrhythmic drugs, including mexiletine, have not been shown to improve overall survival in patients with ventricular arrhythmias.
