Chrysin + Lovastatin
Lovastatin brand names: Mevacor, Altocor.
Chrysin has a minor interaction with Lovastatin. Theoretically, chrysin might increase the clearance of drugs that are UGT1A1 substrates, thereby reducing their effectiveness.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
GLUCURONIDATED DRUGS
Why this applies to Lovastatin
Lovastatin falls under GLUCURONIDATED DRUGS — the group Chrysin interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin might induce UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 (UGT1A1).
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the short version on pairing chrysin with lovastatin: the concern on file is that chrysin might speed up an enzyme called UGT1A1, which would clear certain drugs out faster and make them less effective. In theory, that could mean a little less cholesterol-lowering benefit from your lovastatin.
But I want you to keep this in perspective. This is a theoretical worry based only on lab dish studies, not real people. On top of that, lovastatin isn't really cleared through UGT1A1 in any major way (it's mostly handled by a different pathway), and the body barely absorbs chrysin to begin with. So a real-world drop in effect is unlikely. Still, it never hurts to mention any supplement to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Chrysin or Lovastatin, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Lovastatin page
“Lovastatin (Mevacor) lowers cholesterol, and the liver clears it through an enzyme called CYP3A4, which is where most of these 184 supplements collide with it. This list deserves careful attention.”

About Chrysin
What is Chrysin?
- Bodybuilding and testosterone support
- Anxiety and stress
- Anti-inflammatory
- Antioxidant support
- Prostate health
Chrysin is a plant flavonoid sold mainly as a bodybuilding supplement claimed to raise testosterone or block estrogen, but human studies have not shown these benefits, largely because the body absorbs very little of it. Evidence for its other proposed uses is mostly limited to laboratory and animal research, so its real-world value is unclear. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
About Lovastatin
What Is Lovastatin Used For?
Brand names: Mevacor, Altocor
Lovastatin tablets are used along with a low saturated fat, low cholesterol diet when diet and other non-drug measures alone haven't done enough. The goal is to lower total and LDL cholesterol and reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease (cholesterol-related artery disease).
Lovastatin tablets are used to reduce the risk of heart attack, unstable angina and coronary revascularization procedures in people without symptomatic heart disease. They also slow the progression of coronary atherosclerosis in people with coronary heart disease. They treat primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) and are used in adolescents aged 10 to 17 with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia who meet certain criteria.

Lovastatin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Lovastatin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Chrysin — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
