Theoretically, chrysin might increase the clearance of drugs that are UGT1A1 substrates, thereby reducing their effectiveness.

Here's the gist with chrysin and lorazepam (Ativan). Your body clears lorazepam by attaching a sugar molecule to it, a process called glucuronidation that runs through an enzyme called UGT1A1. In test-tube studies, chrysin seems to rev up that enzyme a bit. In theory, that could clear lorazepam out faster, which might make it a touch less effective, so you could notice a little more anxiety or trouble sleeping.

I want to be straight with you, though: this is only lab-dish data, the concern is rated minor and unlikely, and chrysin is barely absorbed when swallowed, so real-world impact is probably small. Still, if you take Ativan regularly, mention any chrysin use to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how well it's working.

Chrysin is a plant flavonoid sold mainly as a bodybuilding supplement claimed to raise testosterone or block estrogen, but human studies have not shown these benefits, largely because the body absorbs very little of it. About Lorazepam

What Is Lorazepam Used For?

Brand name: Ativan

Lorazepam tablets (Ativan and generic) and the oral solution are used to manage anxiety disorders or for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms, including anxiety that comes with depressive symptoms. Loreev XR, an extended-release capsule, is specifically indicated for adults with anxiety disorders who are already stable on lorazepam tablets taken three times daily.

Ativan and generic lorazepam injections are used in two additional situations: treating status epilepticus (a medical emergency involving prolonged or repeated seizures) and as a pre-surgery medication in adults to produce sedation, ease anxiety, and reduce memory of events on the day of surgery.
