Chrysin + Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine
Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine brand name: Fiorinal.
Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine falls into 2 drug categories that Chrysin can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, chrysin might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Chrysin interacts with whole categories of medication. Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Chrysin in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine
Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Chrysin interacts with.
In vitro evidence suggests that chrysin might inhibit platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Fiorinal. The aspirin part of this combo already thins your blood a bit by keeping platelets from clumping together. Chrysin, in test-tube studies, seems to do something similar. Stack the two and, at least on paper, you could nudge your bleeding risk up a little higher.
In real life this might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, or a cut that takes longer to stop. I'll be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based on lab work rather than people, and your body absorbs very little chrysin to begin with. Still, if you take Fiorinal regularly and want to add chrysin, run it past your pharmacist or doctor first, especially before any dental work or surgery.

CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin inhibits CYP1A2 isozymes. However, chrysin does not appear to inhibit CYP1A2-dependent caffeine metabolism in animals. Due to chrysin's low bioavailability and rapid metabolism to glucuronide and sulfate conjugates, this interaction is unlikely.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Let's talk about what mixing chrysin with Fiorinal really means. The caffeine in this combo is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In a test tube, chrysin can slow that enzyme down, and if that happened in your body, caffeine could hang around longer and add up. In practice that might mean feeling jittery, having a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or an upset stomach from the extra caffeine effect.
Here's the reassuring part: this concern comes only from lab studies. In animal research, chrysin did not actually slow caffeine breakdown, and your body absorbs very little chrysin to begin with. So a real-world problem is unlikely. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine page
“The aspirin inside Fiorinal (aspirin, butalbital, caffeine) is the reason this list deserves careful reading rather than a quick skim. More than 200 of the supplements and herbs on file can thin the blood further and raise bleeding risk on top of aspirin's own antiplatelet effect, and even ordinary alcohol, beer and wine included, carr…”

About Chrysin
What is Chrysin?
- Bodybuilding and testosterone support
- Anxiety and stress
- Anti-inflammatory
- Antioxidant support
- Prostate health
Chrysin is a plant flavonoid sold mainly as a bodybuilding supplement claimed to raise testosterone or block estrogen, but human studies have not shown these benefits, largely because the body absorbs very little of it. Evidence for its other proposed uses is mostly limited to laboratory and animal research, so its real-world value is unclear. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
About Aspirin, Butalbital, and Caffeine
What Is Aspirin, Butalbital, and Caffeine Used For?
Brand name: Fiorinal
This combination is used to relieve the symptoms of tension (or muscle contraction) headache. The supported product is the oral capsule.
There is no evidence that it works or is safe for multiple recurrent headaches. Caution is needed because butalbital is habit-forming and can be abused.
