Nortriptyline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Chrysin interacts with.

Theoretically, chrysin might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin inhibits CYP1A2 isozymes. However, chrysin does not appear to inhibit CYP1A2-dependent caffeine metabolism in animals. Due to chrysin's low bioavailability and rapid metabolism to glucuronide and sulfate conjugates, this interaction is unlikely.

Here's the gist: your body uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break down nortriptyline. In a test tube, chrysin can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a person, nortriptyline could clear a bit slower and build up, which might mean more of the usual tricyclic side effects like dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, blurry vision, or a faster heartbeat.

But here's the reassuring part. This concern comes only from lab studies, not real people. Your body absorbs very little chrysin and breaks down most of it quickly, so in practice this interaction is considered minor and unlikely. Still, since nortriptyline needs careful dosing, it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor before adding chrysin.

Nortriptyline is approved to relieve symptoms of depression. This applies to nortriptyline hydrochloride capsules, nortriptyline hydrochloride oral solution, and Pamelor capsules — all used for the same core indication.

The label notes that depression arising from within the body (endogenous depression) may respond better than other types of depression, though all of these products are indicated for the broader relief of depressive symptoms.
