ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine
Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Cilantro interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
The part of Fiorinal that matters here is the aspirin. Aspirin already thins the blood a bit by keeping platelets from clumping together. Lab studies suggest cilantro may do something similar, so in theory, pairing them could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher. That might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or a stomach upset that lingers.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is: it comes from test-tube research, not real people, so this is a theoretical concern rather than a proven problem. Food amounts of cilantro on your tacos or in salsa are very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated cilantro supplements or essential oil are the bigger question mark. If you use those, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aspirin, Butalbital, Caffeine page
“The aspirin inside Fiorinal (aspirin, butalbital, caffeine) is the reason this list deserves careful reading rather than a quick skim. More than 200 of the supplements and herbs on file can thin the blood further and raise bleeding risk on top of aspirin's own antiplatelet effect, and even ordinary alcohol, beer and wine included, carr…”

About Cilantro
What is Cilantro?
- Digestive upset and bloating
- Antimicrobial support
- Antioxidant support
- Heavy metal 'detox' (chelation) claims
- Culinary flavoring
Cilantro is the leafy part of the Coriandrum sativum plant and is widely eaten as a food, where it is considered safe for most people. While it has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties in lab studies, strong human evidence for any specific health benefit is lacking, and popular 'detox' claims are not well supported. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated cilantro supplements or essential oil.
