Clomipramine falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Cilantro interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that coriandrin, a constituent of cilantro, has photosensitizing effects. Theoretically, concomitant use with photosensitizing drugs might increase photosensitivity. Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.

Here's the simple version: Clomipramine can already make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so you may sunburn faster or break out in a rash with less sun than usual. Cilantro contains a compound called coriandrin that, in lab tests, also seems to add some sun sensitivity. Put the two together and the worry is that your skin could react to the sun a bit more easily.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It's based only on test-tube research, not real patients, so it's more of a theoretical heads-up than a proven problem. Eating cilantro as a food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated cilantro supplements or essential oil are where I'd be a little more cautious. Either way, good sunscreen and a hat are smart, and your pharmacist can help if you're unsure.
