Dexfenfluramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Cinchona interacts with.

Theoretically, taking cinchona might inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) and increase levels of drugs metabolized by this enzyme.
Quinidine, a constituent of cinchona, inhibits CYP2D6-mediated metabolism in humans.

Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help break down and clear dexfenfluramine. Cinchona bark contains quinidine, which is a well-known blocker of that same enzyme. So in theory, pairing them could slow how fast you clear the drug, letting it build up higher than expected.

With more dexfenfluramine hanging around, you might see stronger effects and side effects like a racing or pounding heart, higher blood pressure, headache, dizziness, or trouble sleeping. I'll be honest though, this concern is theoretical, based on how the chemistry works rather than real patient reports. Worth knowing that dexfenfluramine was actually pulled from the market years ago for heart valve safety reasons. If you somehow have this combo in front of you, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before using either.
