Esomeprazole strontium is a proton pump inhibitor, which means its job is to quiet down the acid pumps in your stomach so you get relief from heartburn, reflux, or an ulcer. The idea here is that cinchona bark might nudge your stomach chemistry in a way that works against that goal, so your esomeprazole could feel a little less effective. In real life that might show up as more heartburn or burning than you would expect while on your medicine.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It is mostly theoretical and based on scattered, anecdotal reports, and it is rated as a minor concern. I would not lose sleep over it, but cinchona bark itself carries real heart and blood risks, so please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
