Here's the situation with Nexium (esomeprazole) and cinchona bark. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, meaning its whole job is to quiet down the acid-making pumps in your stomach so things like heartburn and reflux settle down. The thought here is that cinchona may nudge stomach acid levels in its own way, which could theoretically work against what your Nexium is trying to do, so your heartburn or reflux might not feel as well controlled.

I want to be honest that this is a very minor, theoretical concern based on weak, anecdotal evidence, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger issue, frankly, is that cinchona bark itself can be risky for your heart and blood. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
