Cinchona + Pimavanserin Tartrate
Pimavanserin Tartrate brand name: Nuplazid.
Cinchona has a moderate interaction with Pimavanserin Tartrate. Theoretically, taking cinchona with other QT interval-prolonging drugs might cause an additive effect and increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias.

QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS
Why this applies to Pimavanserin Tartrate
Pimavanserin Tartrate falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Cinchona interacts with.
Quinidine and quinine, which are constituents of cinchona, prolong the QT interval.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with combining cinchona and Nuplazid (pimavanserin). Both can affect your heart's electrical timing, something doctors call the QT interval. Pimavanserin already carries a known warning about prolonging QT, and cinchona bark contains quinine and quinidine, which do the same thing. Stacking them together could, in theory, add up and raise the risk of a dangerous heart rhythm.
To be honest, this caution is based on how these compounds behave (pharmacology), not on a pile of real-world reports. Still, since pimavanserin is already a QT drug, I'd play it safe. If you ever feel a racing or pounding heartbeat, dizziness, or fainting, get help right away. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using cinchona alongside Nuplazid.

About Cinchona
What is Cinchona?
- Malaria (historical/traditional)
- Fever
- Leg cramps and restless legs
- Digestive upset and loss of appetite
- Bitter tonic
Cinchona bark is the natural source of quinine and has been used for centuries to treat malaria and fever, but the bark itself is not standardized and can be unpredictable and risky. Modern medicine uses purified, dose-controlled quinine instead, and the supplement form carries real dangers, including serious heart and blood problems. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy.
