Corn Silk + Cefprozil
Cefprozil brand name: Cefzil.
We found no known interaction between Corn Silk and Cefprozil in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Corn Silk and Cefprozil
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Cefprozil and Corn Silk in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Cefprozil
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Cefprozil is filed under 6 classifications — including organic anion transporter 3 (oat3) substrates, organic anion transporter 1 (oat1) substrates, antibiotic drugs. Corn Silk has documented interactions with 5 drug classes — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate), antihypertensive drugs (moderate) and corticosteroids (moderate) — and none of Cefprozil’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Corn Silk Does Interact With Other Medications
Corn Silk has 290 moderate known drug interactions in our database — Cefprozil isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

By severity: 3 major · 46 moderate · 11 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cefprozil page
“Cefprozil (Cefzil) is a cephalosporin antibiotic, usually a short course for ear, sinus, throat, or skin infections, and three of the 60 supplements on this list warrant real caution even for a week of pills. Activated charcoal can bind the drug and pull it out of your system before it works.”

About Corn Silk
What is Corn Silk?
- Urinary tract and bladder problems
- Mild fluid retention (diuretic)
- Kidney and prostate concerns
- Bedwetting in children
- Soothing urinary irritation
Corn silk is a traditional herbal remedy taken as a tea or extract, mostly for urinary and mild fluid-related complaints. High-quality human evidence for these uses is limited, so it should not replace proven treatments. It is generally considered low-risk for short-term use in healthy adults, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before trying it.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Corn Silk is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Corn Silk record says about it on its own.
Corn Silk: dosing
There is no official, standardized dose for corn silk. It has traditionally been taken as a tea made by steeping dried corn silk in hot water, or as a liquid extract or capsule.Because product strengths vary widely, the best advice is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them.

About Cefprozil
What Is Cefprozil Used For?
Brand name: Cefzil
Cefprozil tablets and oral suspension are both used to treat mild to moderate bacterial infections in adults and children. Approved uses include pharyngitis/tonsillitis (strep throat), acute sinusitis, otitis media (ear infections), acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated skin and skin-structure infections.
Cefprozil tablets are also approved for secondary bacterial infection of acute bronchitis. Because antibiotic resistance is a real concern, cefprozil should only be used when the infection is proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria that respond to it.
Most-Reported Side Effects for Cefprozil
From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (780 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.

Cefprozil Is Linked to Lower Levels of 7 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Cefprozil as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Corn Silk — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
