Here's the thing to keep in perspective: eating cucumber as a food is not a concern with your Glucovance (glyburide and metformin). The interaction we have on file comes from cucumber seed extract in animal studies, where it lowered blood sugar. There is no solid human research behind it, so this is largely theoretical.

The worry, if it applied, is that concentrated cucumber seed supplements could add to your medication's sugar-lowering effect and nudge you toward hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). With glyburide especially, that can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion. Normal cucumbers in a salad won't do this. If you decide to take a strong cucumber seed supplement, check your blood sugar a bit more closely and run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
