Here's the simple version: eating cucumber as a regular food is not going to throw off your Tresiba (insulin degludec). We're talking about concentrated cucumber seed extract, which is a very different thing from the cucumber in your salad. In animal studies, that extract nudged blood sugar a little lower on its own.

The theory is that if you stacked a concentrated cucumber seed supplement on top of your insulin, the two could push your sugar down together and raise the odds of a low (hypoglycemia), with shakiness, sweating, confusion, or feeling lightheaded. This is weak, animal-only evidence, so don't panic. If you ever start a cucumber seed supplement, just check your sugars more closely and loop in your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Insulin Degludec (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tresiba

Insulin degludec (brand name Tresiba) is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children 1 year of age and older who have diabetes mellitus — including both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication of diabetes that requires a different type of treatment). In people with type 1 diabetes, insulin degludec must always be used together with a short-acting insulin.
