Canagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Cucumber interacts with.

Theoretically, cucumber seed might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here's the gist for Invokana (canagliflozin): it already lowers your blood sugar by helping your kidneys flush extra sugar out in your urine. Cucumber seed, in animal studies, also nudged blood sugar downward. So the worry is simple addition. Both pushing in the same direction could, in theory, drop your sugar too low.

I want to be honest though, this is based on lab and animal research, not solid human studies, and eating cucumber as food almost certainly won't matter. Concentrated cucumber seed supplements are the bigger question mark. If you use one, just keep an eye out for low blood sugar signs (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion) and check your levels. What Is Canagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Invokana

Invokana (canagliflozin) is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

In adults with type 2 diabetes, Invokana is also used to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in those with established cardiovascular disease, and to reduce the risk of serious kidney complications — including end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization for heart failure — in those with diabetic kidney disease and high levels of protein in the urine.
