Here's the idea behind this pairing. Desipramine (Norpramin) is a tricyclic antidepressant, and along with lifting mood it also has mild anticholinergic activity, meaning it dampens acetylcholine, the brain chemical tied to memory and certain body functions. Deanol is believed to do the opposite and nudge acetylcholine levels up. So in theory, deanol could work against some of desipramine's anticholinergic effects.

In practice, this is a very weak, theory-only concern. It is rated minor and unlikely, and we don't have real human studies showing it actually causes problems. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since both can affect mood and brain chemistry, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding deanol. Please don't change your desipramine on your own.

Desipramine tablets are not approved for use in children. This medication is not recommended in that age group, and the tablet form is intended for adults and, in some cases, adolescents under close medical supervision.
