ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Imipramine
Imipramine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Deanol interacts with.
Deanol is thought to increase acetylcholine levels.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the idea behind this pairing. Imipramine (Tofranil) is a tricyclic antidepressant, and one of its built-in effects is that it blocks acetylcholine, a brain and body messenger. That's actually why it can cause the classic anticholinergic side effects like dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, and trouble urinating. Deanol is thought to nudge acetylcholine levels up, so in theory it could work against part of how imipramine acts.
In real life, this is a very weak, mostly theoretical concern based on pharmacology, not on solid human studies. It's rated minor and unlikely, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since imipramine is a serious medication, please run any new supplement past your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Imipramine page
“Imipramine (Tofranil) is an older tricyclic antidepressant, and the supplements on this page deserve real scrutiny before you add one. Most of the list acts on the liver enzymes that process the drug, so an ingredient can quietly raise or lower imipramine levels: grapefruit pushes them up, while St.”
