Here's the basic idea with Vesicare (solifenacin). This medicine calms an overactive bladder by blocking a nerve signal carried by a chemical called acetylcholine. Deanol (DMAE) is marketed to do the opposite, since it's thought to nudge acetylcholine levels up. So in theory, taking deanol might work against your solifenacin and make it a little less effective, meaning your urgency, frequency, or leaking could creep back.

I want to be honest about how soft this is. It's only a theoretical concern based on how these two are believed to act, not something proven in real patients, and it's rated minor and unlikely. Still, if you notice your bladder symptoms returning after starting deanol, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

What Is Solifenacin Used For?

Brand name: Vesicare

Solifenacin tablets (including the brands solifenacin succinate and VESIcare) are approved for adults with overactive bladder — specifically the symptoms of sudden urges to urinate, leaking urine due to those urges (urge urinary incontinence), and needing to urinate very frequently.

VESIcare LS oral suspension is approved for a different use: treating neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) — a bladder control problem caused by nerve damage or a nervous system condition — in children aged 2 years and older. This liquid formulation is dosed by the child's weight.
