Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the gist with Fiorinal (the aspirin, butalbital, and caffeine combo) and DHEA. One of its ingredients, the butalbital, is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. There's some early, mostly lab-based hints that DHEA may slow that enzyme down. If that happened, butalbital could clear out a little more slowly and build up, which in theory might leave you feeling more drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or just more sedated than usual.

I want to be straight with you though: this is weak, anecdotal evidence, and we don't really know if it matters in real life. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since both DHEA and this medicine can affect how you feel, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with Fiorinal: the aspirin part is already a blood thinner that keeps your platelets from clumping together. DHEA may do a little of that same thing on its own, based mostly on lab and early human research. So if you stack the two, you could theoretically nudge your bleeding risk a bit higher than the aspirin alone would.

In real life that might look like easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or a cut that takes longer to stop. I want to be honest that this evidence is fairly weak and mostly theoretical, so it isn't something to panic over. Still, since both touch platelets, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, especially if you bleed easily or take other blood thinners.

What Is Aspirin, Butalbital, and Caffeine Used For?

Brand name: Fiorinal

Butalbital, aspirin, and caffeine capsules are used to relieve the symptom complex of tension headache — also called muscle contraction headache. This includes headache pain, psychic tension, and muscle tightness in the head, neck, and shoulders.

This medicine is intended for short-term use. Evidence supporting its safety and effectiveness for repeated or long-term use in recurrent headaches is not available, and extended use is not recommended because butalbital can be habit-forming.
