Dusty miller contains PAs. PAs are substrates of CYP3A4. Theoretically, drugs that induce CYP3A4 might increase the conversion of PAs to toxic metabolites.

Here's the twist with this pairing: the concern isn't really about your zanubrutinib (Brukinsa) levels changing. It's about the Dusty Miller itself. This plant carries pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which the liver enzyme CYP3A4 can turn into toxic, liver-damaging byproducts. Because zanubrutinib can mildly speed up that same enzyme, the worry is that it could nudge your body into making more of those harmful byproducts from the plant.

I want to be straight with you: this is a theoretical concern based only on lab-type reasoning, not real-world cases. But honestly, Dusty Miller isn't safe to take regardless, and you're already managing a serious cancer. Please don't use any Dusty Miller product, and check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding anything new.

About Zanubrutinib

What Is Zanubrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Brukinsa

Brukinsa (zanubrutinib) is used to treat adult patients with certain blood cancers. It treats mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) in patients who have had at least one prior therapy, Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), relapsed or refractory marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) after at least one prior anti-CD20 treatment, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL).

Brukinsa is also used — in combination with another medicine called obinutuzumab — to treat relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) in adults who have already received two or more lines of treatment. Several of these uses were granted accelerated FDA approval based on response rates, meaning confirmatory trials are still ongoing.
