Here's the simple version: phenobarbital is already a strong sedative that calms your brain and nervous system. Galphimia glauca appears to have its own mild calming, sleep-promoting effect. Put the two together and those effects can stack, so you may feel more drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or unsteady than you'd expect from your phenobarbital alone.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This concern is theoretical, based on how each one acts in the body rather than on real cases or solid human studies. So I'm not trying to alarm you. Still, because phenobarbital is potent and can slow breathing in higher amounts, I'd play it safe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, and don't change your phenobarbital dose on your own.
