Garcinia + Paroxetine
Paroxetine brand names: Paxil CR, Paxil, Brisdelle.
Garcinia has a moderate interaction with Paroxetine. Theoretically, combining garcinia with other serotonergic drugs might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
SEROTONERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Paroxetine
Paroxetine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.
In one report, a patient experienced serotonin syndrome after taking garcinia extract (60% hydroxycitric acid) 1000 mg daily in combination with escitalopram 20 mg, which had been taken for a year. The patient was switched to sertraline 50 mg daily and again experienced serotonin syndrome.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing Garcinia and paroxetine (Paxil). Paroxetine is an SSRI, meaning it raises serotonin levels in your brain to help with depression and anxiety. There's a theory that garcinia may also nudge serotonin upward. Put them together and you could, in rare cases, get too much serotonin activity, which is called serotonin syndrome.
Honestly, the evidence here is thin. It rests mostly on a single case report involving similar antidepressants, not paroxetine directly, so I don't want to scare you. Still, watch for signs like agitation, shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, fever, or confusion. If those show up, get help promptly. Before starting garcinia, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Paroxetine page
“I treat paroxetine (Paxil, Paxil CR, Brisdelle) as a medication where supplement choices genuinely matter, not one to wave through. This antidepressant raises serotonin, so about twenty of the ingredients listed here, lithium among them, can push serotonin too high and risk serotonin syndrome, a dangerous reaction.”

Paroxetine Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Paroxetine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Garcinia — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
