Goldthread + Vincristine
Vincristine brand name: Vincasar.
Goldthread has a moderate interaction with Vincristine. There's very preliminary evidence that berberine, a constituent of goldthread, might inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzyme.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Vincristine
Vincristine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Goldthread interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with goldthread and your vincristine. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break vincristine down and clear it out. Berberine, the main active compound in goldthread, may slow that enzyme down a bit. If it does, vincristine could stick around at higher levels than expected.
Why does that matter? Vincristine's tougher side effects (nerve problems like tingling, numbness, or weakness, plus constipation and low blood counts) tend to get worse when levels climb. The good news is this is only a theoretical concern based on lab work, not something seen in real patients. Still, since chemo is serious business, please loop in your oncology team or pharmacist before adding goldthread.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Vincristine page
“Because vincristine (Vincasar) is chemotherapy, used against leukemias, lymphomas, and several other cancers, the interactions on this page deserve genuine caution, starting with the three rated major. Nearly all of these supplements change how the body clears vincristine, through the CYP3A4 enzyme or the P-glycoprotein transporter, wh…”

What is Goldthread?
- Digestive upset and diarrhea
- Mouth sores and sore throat
- Inflammation
- Antimicrobial (fighting germs)
- Blood sugar support
- Skin and eye complaints
Goldthread is a traditional Chinese and East Asian herb whose root is rich in berberine, a compound being studied for blood sugar, cholesterol, and antimicrobial effects. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you take other medicines.
About Vincristine Injection
What Is Vincristine Injection Used For?
Brand name: Vincasar
Vincristine Sulfate Injection is approved to treat acute leukemia. It is also used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens for Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphomas, rhabdomyosarcoma (a soft-tissue cancer), neuroblastoma (a cancer of nerve tissue), and Wilms' tumor (a kidney cancer in children).
Because it works best alongside other cancer medicines, vincristine is almost always given as part of a multi-drug treatment plan rather than on its own.
