Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan Potassium falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Guarumo interacts with.

Evidence from animal research suggests that aqueous and ethanolic extracts of guarumo leaf can lower blood pressure when administered intravenously to rats. Theoretically, concomitant use of antihypertensive drugs with guarumo might enhance therapeutic effects and increase the risk of hypotension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Hyzaar combines two blood pressure medicines: losartan, which relaxes blood vessels, and hydrochlorothiazide, a water pill that helps your body shed extra salt and fluid. Guarumo tea may gently lower blood pressure on its own, so pairing it with Hyzaar could push your numbers down further than expected. That's the concern here, not a problem with how your body breaks down the drug.

If your blood pressure dips too low, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or notice your heart racing, especially when you stand up quickly. To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on animal research, not strong human studies. Still, if you'd like to try guarumo, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your blood pressure readings at home.
