Methyldopa falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Guarumo interacts with.

Evidence from animal research suggests that aqueous and ethanolic extracts of guarumo leaf can lower blood pressure when administered intravenously to rats. Theoretically, concomitant use of antihypertensive drugs with guarumo might enhance therapeutic effects and increase the risk of hypotension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the simple version: guarumo tea has shown a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect in animal studies. Since methyldopa (Aldomet) is already working to relax your blood vessels and bring your pressure down, adding guarumo could, in theory, stack on top of it and push your numbers a little too low.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or woozy when standing up quickly. Keep in mind this concern comes from lab and animal research only, not solid human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor before adding guarumo, and it's smart to keep an eye on your home blood pressure readings if you do.
