Why this applies to Aspirin, Oxycodone

Aspirin, Oxycodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.

Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Percodan combines aspirin with oxycodone, and the oxycodone part is the piece that interacts here. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert oxycodone into oxymorphone, a more potent painkiller. Higenamine has been shown in lab dishes to block CYP2D6. If that happened in people, it could actually lower how much of that stronger byproduct forms, so you might get less pain relief than expected, even though oxycodone itself still works on its own.

Here is the honest part: this is only test-tube data and has never been confirmed in humans, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger worry is that higenamine can raise heart rate and blood pressure. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

Animal research shows that higenamine inhibits platelet aggregation and reduces the size of thrombus formation.

Percodan combines aspirin with oxycodone. The piece that matters here is the aspirin, which already thins your blood a little by keeping platelets from clumping together. That's part of how it works, but it's also why aspirin can cause easy bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach irritation.

Higenamine has shown, in animal studies only, that it may also reduce platelet stickiness. So the worry is mostly theoretical: stacking it on top of aspirin could add a bit more bleeding risk. We don't have solid human proof, so I wouldn't panic. Still, given higenamine's heart and blood pressure effects and unreliable labeling, please run this combo past your pharmacist or doctor before using both.
