Adalimumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Concurrent use of ipriflavone and immunosuppressant drugs might have additive effects on inhibiting immune function. Some patients taking ipriflavone experience subclinical lymphocytopenia; avoid concurrent use. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair. Humira (adalimumab) is a biologic that already turns down part of your immune system to calm autoimmune inflammation. Ipriflavone is different from a typical metabolism interaction. It isn't really changing how your body breaks adalimumab down. Instead, the concern is additive: ipriflavone has been shown in some people to lower white blood cell counts (a quiet drop in lymphocytes), and adalimumab also lowers your defenses. Stack the two and you may be a bit more prone to infections.

This is graded as a real concern with decent evidence, so I'd play it safe. Please don't stop either one on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and watch for fevers, sore throat, or infections that won't quit.

Ipriflavone is a synthetic isoflavone studied mainly for bone health and osteoporosis, but high-quality research has not shown that it reliably prevents fractures or builds strong bone. Because it can lower white blood cell counts in some people and its long-term safety is not well established, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

What Is Adalimumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Humira

Adalimumab Injection treats several long-term inflammatory conditions. In adults, these include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa and non-infectious uveitis (inflammation inside the eye).

It is also used in children for polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (age 2 and older) and Crohn's disease (age 6 and older). Yuflyma's label also lists use in children 12 and older for hidradenitis suppurativa and 2 and older for uveitis. Yuflyma is not established for children with psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis or plaque psoriasis.
