Flurbiprofen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Ipriflavone is thought to competitively inhibit cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9). Theoretically, concurrent use of ipriflavone and drugs metabolized by these enzymes might result in decreased drug elimination, increased serum levels, and potential toxicity. Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 include amitriptyline (Elavil), diazepam (Valium), estradiol (Estrace), tacrine (Cognex), verapamil (Calan), warfarin (Coumadin), zileuton (Zyflo), and others.

Here's the gist for flurbiprofen. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear this NSAID out of your system. Ipriflavone may gently block that same enzyme, so in theory flurbiprofen could hang around longer and build up a bit higher than usual.

If that happened, you might notice more of the usual NSAID side effects: stomach upset or pain, heartburn, a higher chance of stomach bleeding, fluid retention, or stress on the kidneys. I want to keep this in perspective, though. This warning comes from lab and animal data only, not real-world human cases, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, before pairing these two, check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on you.

Flurbiprofen tablets (sold as Flurbiprofen and Lurbiro) are used to relieve the pain, swelling, and stiffness of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Flurbiprofen Sodium eye drops are a separate product used during eye surgery — specifically to keep the pupil from constricting (getting smaller) while the procedure is underway. This use applies only to the ophthalmic (eye drop) form.
