IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Betamethasone
Betamethasone falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing ipriflavone and betamethasone: both can quietly dampen your immune system. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid, and like all steroids it tamps down inflammation and immune activity. Ipriflavone, meanwhile, has been shown in some people to lower white blood cell counts (a mild, often symptom-free dip called lymphocytopenia). Stacked together, those effects can add up, leaving you a bit more open to catching infections or having trouble shaking one off.
One practical note: if you're using betamethasone cream or ointment on a small patch of skin, very little gets into your bloodstream, so this matters far less than with oral or injected steroids. Either way, please run the combination past your pharmacist or doctor before starting ipriflavone.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Betamethasone page
“Betamethasone (Celestone, Diprolene) works by quieting the immune system, which is exactly why this list warrants a slow, careful read. More than fifty of the ingredients here are immune stimulants that can push back against the steroid, and another sizable group changes how much of the drug the body absorbs or holds onto.”

About Ipriflavone
What is Ipriflavone?
- Bone density and osteoporosis
- Postmenopausal bone loss
- Athletic performance
- Tinnitus related to bone disorders
Ipriflavone is a synthetic isoflavone studied mainly for bone health and osteoporosis, but high-quality research has not shown that it reliably prevents fractures or builds strong bone. Because it can lower white blood cell counts in some people and its long-term safety is not well established, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
