Fluoxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Ipriflavone is thought to competitively inhibit cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9). Theoretically, concurrent use of ipriflavone and drugs metabolized by these enzymes might result in decreased drug elimination, increased serum levels, and potential toxicity. Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 include amitriptyline (Elavil), diazepam (Valium), estradiol (Estrace), tacrine (Cognex), verapamil (Calan), warfarin (Coumadin), zileuton (Zyflo), and others.

Here's the gist for fluoxetine (Prozac). Ipriflavone may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9, which is one of the pathways your body uses to clear fluoxetine. In theory, if that pathway is partly blocked, fluoxetine could build up a bit and its effects could be amplified. That might mean more of the common side effects you may already notice, like nausea, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, headache, or dry mouth.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is based only on lab studies, not real patient reports, so it's a theoretical concern rather than something we see causing problems day to day. Still, since ipriflavone's long-term safety isn't well proven, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
